Braiding With A Twist Serves...
Braiding With A Twist serves teens ages 11–17, particularly those navigating barriers related to access, opportunity, and economic challenges. Through hands-on learning and mentorship, we create supportive spaces where youth build skills, confidence, and a strong sense of purpose.
Founder’s Vision
As Founder & Chief Executive Officer of Braiding With A Twist, Marlo Jenkins created the program from her lived experiences growing up in South St. Petersburg and navigating early life challenges that shaped her journey of resilience, purpose, and transformation.
Through perseverance, self-discovery, and a deep commitment to growth, Marlo raised four children, earned her bachelor’s degree, and built Braiding With A Twist to prepare teens for life through mentorship, hands-on learning, and real-world skill development.
Inspired by the cultural significance and creativity of braiding, the program connects with youth in meaningful ways — creating spaces where teens build confidence, discover their identity, and envision a future filled with possibility.
